Necklace - Citrine, Bumble Bee Jasper & lapis lazuli

~ Lapis lazuli  or lapis for short, is a deep-blue metamorphic rock used as a semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense color. Sourced from Afghanistan from the Seattle Gem Show in 2018. 

In ancient Egypt, lapis lazuli was a favorite stone for amulets and ornaments such as scarabs. Along with other ancient culture the Blue of Lapis was a favorite for all sorts of ornamentations. It is one of my favorite stones to work with along side Labradorite. 

~Citrines are transparent to a semi-translucent variety of quartz. It has been prized for centuries for its vibrant yellow hue and healing properties.

~Bumble Bee Jasper Moon  (which is actually not a true Jasper) is a complex calcium carbonate mineral with inclusions of arsenic and manganese oxides. The banding and layering, which resembles a common bumblebee (hence the name), is caused by inclusions of sulfur (yellow), calcium & Aragonite (white), Orpiment & Realgar (orange), and Pyrite (black).
